Kris Higgins

As a kid, Kris wanted to be a cartoon character when he grew up. While that hasn’t panned out yet, the shows he grew up with continue to influence his career path. For more than two decades, Kris has been a media and nonprofit leader working across public television, documentaries, and live theater. He holds a bachelors in psychology and began his nonprofit career by managing an early childhood education AmeriCorps program, then running one of the oldest puppet theaters in the country. He returned to school to earn a master of fine arts in filmmaking while working with very impressiveĀ journalists (e.g. Pulitzer Prize winners and MacArthur Genius Fellows).

Most recently, he provided funding for independent documentaries and some of public television’s most iconic programs while at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Kris is passionate about media that is smart, imaginative, educational, and a bit weird.
