A little about Emily:
She’s been working in global, digital education for about 15 years, and her journey has taken her from teaching in the U.S. to classrooms in Spain and Taiwan. Most recently, she was at the New York Institute of Technology, where she worked on programs that connected students and faculty around the world through study abroad, global campuses, and partnerships. She’s worked on dynamic projects involving online learning and media at organizations like LearningMate (where she currently works), WNET (New York Public Media), and even the United Nations. Outside of work, she was lucky to be recognized for her efforts in social justice and belonging in education, which is a big passion of hers. She studied psychology and global studies in undergrad and then earned a master’s in education, both at Sacred Heart University, where she also played on the women’s ice hockey team (yes, she still loves the sport! These past Olympics were everything for her.). She then completed a second master’s degree at New York Institute of Technology and a PhD in operations and decision analytics from Baruch College, both in New York City. Now she lives on the Upper East Side in Manhattan with her husband and her two daughters (11 years old and 5 years old). When she’s not working, you’ll usually find her chasing after them, seeking out live music, or watching a good hockey game.
