Director of Events, CMA National

The Events Director oversees the strategic planning and production of National and Digital events and acts as the liaison for Chapter level Events Directors. Primary focus includes building and maintaining relationships with innovative industry partners and venues and spearheading national level event initiatives. The Director works closely with CMA Officers as the main point of contact to meet the needs of the Events teams across all chapters.

Responsibilities:

  • Coach chapter events directors and advise on upcoming events as needed
  • Manage national event calendar in conjunction with the National President & Director of Digital
  • Manage national event budget with Treasurer
  • Maintain and grow event partner and venue databases
  • Oversee partner event agreements as well as venue contracts and payments
  • Request venue payment and work with treasurer to ensure payments are made on time
  • Attend meetings of the board, committees, committee chairs and planning sessions as required

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Mastery of Microsoft Office, Dropbox and Google Drive
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and electronic)
  • Experience managing budgets
  • Takes ownership of key tasks and can make progress when required to work independently
  • Detail-oriented and a creative problem-solver capable of managing several tasks simultaneously in a fast paced changing environment and possesses excellent follow-up skills.
  • The ability and passion to attend events as a representative of CMA.
  • Background in production, development, and events is preferred.
