Join CMA Board of Director, David Kleeman as he hosts his popular full-day screening and discussion of children's television from around the world. At this showcase of movies and digital shorts, you'll see innovation and daring, emotion and tension, but also surprise and laughter from David's favorite submissions. Children’s television provides an amazing window into how cultures view childhood, play, learning and growth. For more than 50 years, kids media experts from around the globe have gathered at PRIX JEUNESSE to screen and discuss, share insights and evaluate how well we entertain and engage young audiences.

The PRIX JEUNESSE Suitcase is a tasting menu and creative refresher - shows and clips overflowing with challenges and inspiration. During this exciting one-day event, programs to be screened include:

· An epic adventure from Japan about a marble named Bisuke as he traverses a Rube Goldberg machine;

· A young cinema fan in Kyrgyzstan schemes to watch a TV show;

· A narrative game show from Norway inspired by indigenous Sami culture;

· A documentary about a group of children’s long walk to school in the mountains of Vietnam;

· A boys’ handball team from Denmark takes on their toughest competitors yet: a team of senior women;

…and more!

About our Host

Strategist, analyst, author, speaker, connector — David Kleeman has led the children’s media industry in developing sustainable, child-friendly practices for more than 35 years. He began this work as president of the American Center for Children and Media and is now Senior Vice President of Global Trends for Dubit, a strategy/research consultancy and digital studio. When he began, “children’s media” meant television. Today, he is fascinated by, and passionate about, kids’ wide range of possibilities for entertainment, engagement, play and learning. David uses research, insights and experience to show that much may change, but children’s developmental path and needs remain constant. David is advisory board chair to the international children’s TV festival PRIX JEUNESSE and on the Board of the 2021 World Summit on Media for Children in Dublin, Ireland. He’s also on Boards for the National Association for Media Literacy Education and the Children’s Media Association. David travels worldwide seeking best practices in children’s entertainment and learning. He has spoken (and, more important, listened!) on six continents and writes extensively for varied audiences.
